Rhythmic Nourishment for the Spirit & Soul
GENTLE WORKSHOP STYLE CIRCLES FOR WELL-BEING THROUGH RHYTHM, AND MUCH MORE!
BUFFALO DRUMS are a Native American style frame drum, also known as Medicine Drums or Hoop Drums, sometimes referred to as Shamanic Drums. They are held in one hand and played with a beater in the other and are both a musical instrument and a healing tool.
Buffalo Drumming is a mindful, and often meditative, gentle activity. When drumming we are focussed in the present moment, giving us an opportunity for our thoughts and emotions to take a breath, to pause the chaos and enjoy a time of relative stillness, thus 'recalibrating' ourselves, bringing clarity and a sense of peace.
Drumming can help us to deal with stress, anxiety, pain ... and much more, and can instil a sense of calm, joy, and well-being.

NO DRUM? No worries! Let me know and I shall bring one for you to play.
We play guided rhythms with intention and meaning, adding voices too - simple songs, vocables or chants - creating something quite magical!
This drum circle has no specific spiritual or religious affinity. For grown-ups of all ages. For beginners and less experienced folk, as well as seasoned players. |
What do you need to bring? A bright smile and an open mind. A drink would also be a good idea (the kitchen will not be available), and of course instruments if you have your own. Dress to keep warm in the colder weather.
There is free car parking at the venue. The car park is not very large - spaces can be found in the nearby residential roads.
Please note that St Andrews Church Hall is NOT next to the church itself, but is near the petrol station (mini roundabout) on Manor Road B3140 (Burnham/Berrow road), opposite Manor Gardens. (The postcode on here is correct, but I am told that some SatNav systems take you to the wrong end of town!)

UNIVERSAL PRAYER FOR PEACE
Pacifist, writer and former monk, Satish Kumar (1936 – present) designed this adaptation of a Hindu mantra to be able to be used by all people, of all faiths and none.
Each day at noon people around the world use this ‘Universal Prayer for Peace’, forming a wave of prayer and hope rippling each day around the globe.

Below are the moon dates for this year, giving us a calendar of lunar months, ie, the time from one new moon to the next.
Native Americans have various names for the moons, which vary amongst the many nations. The names are a seasonal and meaningful description to guide us. Below are my favourites. They are from the Algonquin tribes who lived in regions from New England to Lake Superior. |
The tenth moon - the FALLING LEAVES MOON
New Moon - 2nd October 2024 Full Moon - 17th October 2024 |
The eleventh moon - the FROST MOON
New Moon - 1st November 2024 Full Moon - 15th November 2024 |
The twelfth moon - the LONG NIGHTS MOON
New Moon - 1st December 2024 Full Moon - 15th December 2024 The phases of the moon take 29.5 days to complete, so there are only 12 full moons in a year that is 365 or 366 days long. This means that every couple of years and a half, a 13th full moon occurs, which is called a blue moon.

30th December 2024 brings us a New Moon
Being the second moon in the calendar month, and the thirteenth moon of the year, this is a BLUE MOON. AUTUMN EQUINOX - 22nd September 2024
WINTER SOLSTICE - 21st December 2024 |
