ENERGISING, FOCUSSING & LOADS OF FUN!

For grown-ups of all ages. For those new to drumming and music making, for rusty returners, and seasoned players too.
There are currently two groups - Mondays at 7pm and Tuesdays at 1pm.  All sessions are held at The BAY Centre, Cassis Close, Burnham-On-Sea TA8 1NN

There is free parking at the venue, both directly outside The BAY Centre and in the adjacent car park.

The sessions are split into 'seasons', usually 5 or 6 weeks.

The first session of each season is the time for new drummers to join.
Each session is for a 'generous hour'.

Payment is £10 CASH per session on the day.
Please get in touch with Suzanne if you would like to give it a whirl.  (Sorry, no drop-ins.)

Dates ahead for all sessions, circles and events can be found on the QUICK CALENDAR page

We include bells, shakers and other small percussion instruments, as well as voices, for a rounded experience of West African style music-making.  We find our rhythm and fire up our co-ordination and timing with some simple activities, and we weave rhythm patterns together to create some magic!
We are established groups of djembe drummers -  and we always welcome new folks.  No experience needed - you'll soon be in the groove!

No djembe? No problem!  DJEMBE HIRE for the sessions is currently free of charge.  Pre-booking is required.

All dates are fully intended but obviously depend on favourable circumstances and a sufficient number of drummers.  If a session needs to be cancelled, you will be notified
by email.
What do you need to bring?  A bright smile and a bagful of good vibes! A drink may also be a good idea (the kitchen will not be available), and of course your drum - unless you have booked to hire one. Dress to keep warm enough in colder weather.

How do drummers describe their experience?

"Uplifting"
"Great fun"
"Energising"

Group drumming benefits our health and well-being on all levels.

The main focus is on enjoyment, (definitely no pressure!), building skills and confidence while having fun in a relaxed environment.

Regular drummers will develop their sense of rhythm and timing, as well as dexterity, co-ordination, stamina and focus, and will acquire some 'go to' familiar beats to play with confidence.

Djembes (Jem -Bays) are goblet-shaped drums of West African origin, played with the hands, and nowadays are very popular drums across much of the world.

I have lightweight contemporary djembe drums (without animal skin) that you can hire, or of course you can bring a djembe drum of your own.
