Drumming is a primal activity, which connects us deeply to our inner selves, to each other, and to the world around us. It is a wonderful healing and community-building tool that has been enjoyed since ancient times.
In recent years, traditional drumming is enjoying a 'revival' in many parts of the world, as its value to our well-being has become widely recognised by our modern medical profession, and of course to those of us who drum!
The benefits that drumming brings to our health and well-being cannot always be put into words, but safe to say that the beat of the drum reaches us on every level - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Playing rhythm is a naturally mindful activity, and can be thought of as a 'moving meditation'. |

Drumming promotes & maintains the connection between mind, body, spirit & soul, bringing a sense of one-ness with the self, with others, and with our world as a whole, as we 'tune in' to the rhythms of nature and feel an increased sense of belonging.
Answering the call of the drum is often an important part of a person's journey through life, providing a medium for individual self-realisation and growth. |
