Djembe Drum Circles
A fun workshop-style drum circle to lift the spirits!
THE DRUMS
Djembes (Jem -Bays) are goblet-shaped drums of West African origin, played with the hands, and are very popular drums across much of the world. You can of course bring your own drum, but no worries if you don't have one, because drums are available to hire for the session. I have contemporary drums which are suitable for vegans, and are 'player-friendly' |
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A DJEMBE DRUM CIRCLE
- some rhythmic fun and games to find your inner beat - learn techniques to bring the different 'voices' from the djembe drum - learn both traditional and contemporary rhythm patterns - 'weave' rhythms with other drummers and create something quite magical - add in other percussion instruments to really get the groove on the move! - relax with some freestyle 'go with the flow' drumming - enjoy the many benefits that group drumming brings to our health and well-being on all levels |
WHO IS THIS DRUM CIRCLE FOR?
Grown-ups of all ages. For those new to drumming, as well as more seasoned players to brush up their skills and have fun with their drum!
We take it at a gentle pace, (definitely no pressure!), building skills and confidence while having fun in a relaxed environment.
There is a progression over time in learning skills and rhythms, and regular drummers will build up a 'repertoire' of rhythm patterns.
However, new drummers are always very welcome, and will be able to participate fully! No previous musical or drumming experience is necessary, and if you think you have 'no rhythm' then know that you do! You just need to rediscover it, and then enjoy the bliss that reaches your soul.
